چکیده
Abstract Background and Aims When assessing kidney function, measurement of glomerular filtration rate (mGFR) using an exogenous marker such as iohexol is the gold standard. In this study, we aim to identify similarities differences between iohexol-based mGFR protocols. Method Detailed data on protocols were obtained a standardized survey sent centres in Europe US. It was completed by 15 participants. Data are reported number percentage (n, %). Results participating centres, measurements performed after referral nephrologist (n=6, 40%), other specialties (n=5, 33%) or for research purposes (n=4, 27%). Most common indications evaluation donors 33%), drug dosing 27%), abnormal body composition (n=3, 20%) transplant participants perform morning (n=10, 67%), with patients withholding caffeine fasting 27%) avoiding heavy meals 20%). use IV dose 5 mL 300 mg I/mL 67 %) based weight (n=2, 13%). The timing sample collection shown Figure 1, most often single per time point (n=12, 80%). Iohexol measured LC-MS (n=8, 53%) LC-UV (n=7, 47%). Within-assay variability ranges <2% 6-8% (n=1, 7%) between-assay 13%) asked about assumptions corrections, make one-compartment assumption their PK model 53%), others making two-compartment measurement-dependent assumptions. surface area according DuBois-formula (n=6 (40%), Haycock Schwarz formula not-specified Some correct eGFR (n=9, 60 participate external quality control (Equalis, n=12, Conclusion There large variation mGFR, which highlights need protocol before widespread clinical routine.

Iohexol plasma clearance for measuring glomerular filtration rate in clinical practice and research: a review. Part 1: How to measure glomerular filtration rate with iohexol?
While there is general agreement on the necessity to measure glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in many clinical situations, there is less agreement on the best method to achieve this purpose. As the gold standard method for GFR determination, urinary (or renal) clearance of inulin, fades into the background due to inconvenience and high cost, a diversity of filtration markers and protocols compe...

A reliable assessment of glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is of paramount importance in clinical practice as well as epidemiological and clinical research settings. It is recommended by Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes guidelines in specific populations (anorectic, cirrhotic, obese, renal and non-renal transplant patients) where estimation equations are unreliable. Measured GFR is the ...

A technique for measuring glomerular filtration rate (by six-sample plasma clearance) and extracellular fluid volume is described. The results obtained for glomerular filtration rat per extracellular fluid volume with a three blood sample technique are also presented. We designed a chemical method for measurement of iohexol concentrations (4) and characterized its pharmacokinetics in man in relation to a number of other contrast media (5, 6). We found that is indeed a suitable marker for glomerular filtration rate (GFR): after intravenous injection, it is quantitatively recovered in the urine; the elimination occurs by glomerular filtration, with no signs of...

A method for estimating glomerular filtration rate (GFR) has been developed that is based on an analysis of the total area under the plasma radioactivity-time curve after a single intravenous injection of [125I]iothalamate. Glomerular filtration rates obtained by this method (method A) and those obtained with two widely used single-injection techniques, the slope-intercept method (method B), a...
